Double jointed bits (often reffered to as 'lozenge' & 'French link') help reduce the 'nutcracker' action of traditional jointed snaffle, whilst still allowing the rider control over the two sides of the mouth. It also transfer rein preddure more evenly over the bars.

The Myler 04 has a 3/4" port, or deviation. The mouthpiece collapses when activated, but the degree of collapse is restricted by the centre barrel, so there is no nutcracker action on the outer lips and bars. The Myler 04 has Independent Side Movement, for a clearer lateral aid.
The 36 has a 3/4" forward-tilted port, or deviation. The mouthpiece does not collapse, but it does have Independent Side Movement, for a clearer lateral aid.
